The last decade numerous events of geological phenomena e.g. landslides, floods, liquefaction etc were reported in Greece. In particular, the last two medicanes Ianos and Daniel triggered thousands of slope failures at the mountainous area and caused flooding phenomena in Thessaly, Greece, while earthquake-induced phenomena were also mapped in several areas of Greece the last decade. Moreover, sporadic phenomena of rockfalls were reported along the main motorways of Greece causing problems in their functionality. Taking into account that geologists are the ones who will mainly work on the prediction of these phenomena and the mitigation of their effects, the aim of this special session is to invite abstracts focusing on the assessment of the susceptibility of geohazards and the evalaution of hazard and the relevant risk of the community.
